Hypnotherapy for Neurodivergent People

Support that works with your mind, not against it

No two minds work in exactly the same way.

At MyndTrain, hypnotherapy for neurodivergent people is shaped around the individual. Whether you're autistic, have ADHD, identify with another form of neurodivergence or are still exploring what neurodivergence means for you, sessions are designed to work with the way your mind works rather than expecting you to fit a particular mould.

You may find that your mind rarely feels quiet, certain situations leave you overwhelmed, or you've spent years trying to fit into ways of thinking and working that simply don't suit you.

Hypnotherapy can offer a different approach.

How can hypnotherapy support neurodivergent people?

Being neurodivergent isn’t something that needs to be cured or changed.

However, there may be parts of everyday life that you find difficult, frustrating or exhausting. Hypnotherapy can be used to support you with those individual challenges, rather than trying to change who you are.

People may choose hypnotherapy for help with things such as:

  • Anxiety or feeling overwhelmed

  • Confidence and self-esteem

  • Emotional regulation

  • Sleep difficulties

  • Habits or behaviours they would like to change

  • Managing stress

  • Motivation and focus

  • Fears or phobias

  • Coping with change

  • Feeling more comfortable in themselves

Your reasons for coming to hypnotherapy are personal to you. We’ll focus on what you would like to change or feel differently about.

Areas of Support

ADHD and hypnotherapy

Living with ADHD can sometimes feel as though your brain has twenty tabs open at once.

You might struggle to switch off, find it difficult to stay focused on something that doesn’t hold your interest, become overwhelmed by everyday demands or find that your emotions can feel particularly intense.

For some people with ADHD, hypnotherapy can provide an opportunity to slow things down and focus on one thing at a time.

Sessions can be adapted around how you concentrate and process information. You don’t need to sit perfectly still, completely clear your mind or somehow become “good” at hypnosis. We find what works for you.

Autism and hypnotherapy

Autistic people can experience anxiety, overwhelm or stress for many different reasons. Social situations may feel draining, unexpected changes can be difficult to manage, or sensory experiences can make everyday environments challenging.

Hypnotherapy may help with some of the feelings and responses surrounding these experiences.

The aim is never to make you appear less autistic or encourage you to mask who you are. Instead, sessions focus on the areas where you would like support.

Your comfort matters, and we can adapt the way sessions are delivered to make the experience feel as manageable and relaxed as possible.

"What if I find it difficult to relax?"

This is something many people worry about before trying hypnotherapy. And you might be thinking:

“My brain never switches off, so hypnosis won't work for me.”

You don’t need an empty mind to experience hypnosis.

In fact, hypnosis isn't about forcing your thoughts to stop. Your mind can wander, you can notice noises around you and you can still have thoughts popping into your head.

If a traditional relaxation technique doesn’t work for you, that’s okay. We can try something different.

There isn’t one “correct” way to experience hypnosis.
